Our Story
From four people in a rented house to a family of 400.
HICC began in 2019 in Mwanza, Tanzania, under Pastor Samwel Hamisi and his wife Sarah Samwel, as a small fellowship meeting in a member's home. The ministry paused for a while when the pastor moved to Mahina Nyangulugu.
God kept the call alive in Pastor Samwel's heart, and on 17 May 2020 he led the first service in the house he was renting, with three others: his wife, his child and his brother-in-law.
The church then moved into a school building. Through house-to-house evangelism the congregation soon grew to fifty people, and it had to move again to a larger space.
By God's grace the church now has about 400 members, adults and children. As the vision grew to reach more people in Tanzania and beyond, the church changed its name from Hossana Gospel Church (HGC) to Hossana International Community Church (HICC).
